We have professionals in, installing a new bathroom and a downstairs toilet. The tiles were grouted two days ago. They include beautiful polished metallic mosaic tiles - well, they were beautiful until grouting caused them to be covered in multiple fine scratches. They look awful. Can the scratches be polished out?

The tiles are sold without film over them to protect them. I had no idea that grouting could do this. Is all grout abrasive? There’s no warning on the tiles saying they need to be treated in any particular way e.g. using specialist non-abrasive grout.

I’d be very grateful for any advice anyone can offer. Thank you.

It depends on the grout. A fine joint grout is less sandy and not as abrasive as say a grout for wide joints
